“Today I know that such memories are the key not to the past, but to the future.

I know that the experiences of our lives, when we let God use them,

become the mysterious and perfect preparation for the work he will give us to do."
              --Corrie ten Boom

The Dove Tile Project has really spread its wings and taken off in Central Texas. Building off the momentum from ceramic students at South Lakes High School, the Dove Tile Project has evolved into larger effort through increased awareness and contributions locally here in North Austin. Pflugerville, Hendrickson, and Connally High School have participated in The Dove Tile Project and together have made close to 1000 tiles! We had the privilege to speak to the students of Pflugerville High School during a Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) group about the mission of The Refuge Ranch and how their humanitarian efforts of The Dove Tile Project will be integrated into the beautiful courtyards of the girl’s cottages. We are honored so many students, teachers and parents have participated in this moving project and have thus spread awareness about DMST. The Dove Tile Project raises the serious issue on DMST and can be a sensitive subject matter for students transitioning into high school. The reality of the situation provides an education opportunity for high school students to create an open dialogue between parents and teachers about DMST, its societal effects, and its prevalence not only in the entire world, but locally in our own backyard. Educating our children and creating awareness can result in precautionary measures taken to ensure the safety and protection of our younger generation.

On November 10, 2015, I walked into my Alma Mater, Pflugerville High School. Never did I suspect I would be visiting my old stomping grounds 12 years later, giving a presentation one of the projects I would be working on as a young professional and raising awareness about a very sensitive issue on human sex trafficking. One of the most high profile and important projects Reach has worked on, The Refuge Ranch has been broadcasted over local news and informing people not only locally but all over Texas that human sex trafficking is happening in our backyard and is all around us at alarming numbers. I had the opportunity to talk to my old high school about The Refuge Ranch, the issues on sex trafficking and what they can do to help the girls. In an effort to continually spread his love and joy throughout our community, we are creating dove tiles that together will form a tessellation as part of a feature wall. The wall will be integrated into our design for The Refuge Ranch. Each tile will reflect a personal message to the girls through a prayer, poem, quote, or painting--which when all fit together will demonstrate our communal love and support for the girls at The Refuge Ranch.
